Well, today was a hard day. Had to put my darling cat, Ceanna, to sleep today. It was the right thing to do, there was nothing that could be done for her and she was in so much pain. It was peaceful. She was already sleeping practically non-stop, so...it was peaceful. Still really hard though. I'm gonna miss her.
I remember when she was a kitten, we used to call her "Monkey-Tail" because her tail was too big for her. She grew into it, mostly...it was still a little too long for most cats, but she pulled it off.
We must remember that we didn't ever train her, she trained us.
She used to sit on her cardboard circle and look around at everyone with an expression that said, "Bow down to me you peasants."
Now whenever we hear knocking on the back window, we should be freaked out. See, whenever she wanted to come back inside, if we didn't hear her meow, she would knock on the back window. We'd be sitting there and then hear "tap-tap-tap" and go, "Alright, looks like Ceanna wants in!" First time mom was there when she did that, she was like, "What..?" It was funny. :)
She also had issues with dirty socks. First time we realized that, she had come upstairs and was whining at me. So I followed her to the downstairs hallway. She plopped down in front of my brother's dirty socks that he'd left in the hallway and whined until I picked them up. Then she went into his room. Needless to say, dirty socks damaged her calm greatly. :)
She couldn't bring herself to eat if the dryer was on, or if mom was in the kitchen. So we had to make sure to turn off the dryer when she wanted to it, if it was on. She also couldn't go up or down the back porch steps if the dryer was on. The warm air that blew over one of the steps seriously freaked her out.
She used to come in through the back window a lot. During the Summers when the AC was going, we had to open both windows in order for her to be okay with coming in. If we opened both, it equalized the pressure from the AC. Otherwise she was like, "Forget it!" Because she didn't like that build up of pressure.
She always knew when I wasn't feeling particularly great and would come comfort me. <3
Her favorite music to listen to was the BeeGees. It made her exceptionally happy whenever I played that group. ^^
Her favorite thing to play with was a Squeaker-Mouse. She'd go to town on that thing. She actually played with it so much the squeaker came out. I sewed it shut and it came out again. She wouldn't leave it alone. :) So I wound up duct taping it shut and she still played with it like crazy. We got her a new one and she refused to play with it for months. Looked at it like, "This isn't my mouse...."
There are so many other memories. I could go on all day. But I'll call it good for now. And end with a picture. She used to love laying out in the yard among the Irises (<--especially here) and Daffodils, and also on the windowsill out in the sunshine.
Have a good one.
